The Earl Grey
177 Vale Road
The Earl Grey on Vale Road in Northfleet is an old-fashioned local in a distinctive late-18th-century cottage-style building of Kentish red brick and flint, said to have been a coaching inn built around 1750 and a drinking place for more than 250 years. Inside there is an L-shaped bar with a raised rear seating area, serving regular Shepherd Neame beers including Master Brew and Spitfire.
The pub hosts regular darts and Thursday euchre, and has a large garden, welcoming children and dogs, that includes a petanque piste with a local league team. It even has a local ghost legend involving glasses flying off shelves.
