Kings News & Wine
21C King Street
Kings News & Wine is a convenience store and newsagent on King Street in central Gravesend, near St John's Church and Gravesend Library. The store stocks food to go, fresh bread, fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and poultry, frozen foods, newspapers and magazines, and offers services including mobile top-ups, lottery, and an in-store InPost parcel locker.
It received a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 (Very Good) from Gravesham Borough Council on 2 January 2024. Notably, in June 2024 a Gravesham licensing panel revoked the shop's alcohol licence after Kent Police evidence that it had sold alcohol to street drinkers on credit (keeping a 'pledges book'), served intoxicated customers, stocked illegal vapes, sold alcohol before permitted hours and failed to maintain adequate CCTV; the business may continue as a newsagent but can no longer legally sell alcohol.
